Saturday thoughts

“Decide in your heart of hearts what really excites and challenges you, and start moving your life in that direction. Every decision you make, from what you eat to what you do with your time tonight, turns you into who you are tomorrow, and the day after that. Look at who you want to be, and start sculpting yourself into that person. You may not get exactly where you thought you'd be, but you will be doing things that suit you in a profession you believe in. Don't let life randomly kick you into the adult you don't want to become.”

CAROLINE Z HURLEY

I can't remember where exactly I first read about Caroline Z Hurley, but over the weekend I was reminded of how much I loved her work when I stumbled across a pin of one of her fun, graphic linen throws on Pinterest.

Caroline started her homewares company in 2011 and every piece is hand-made in her Brooklyn studio.  You can shop her ceramics, textiles and paintings in her online shop here.

There's something I really love about the colors and simplicity of these prints and the movement in them, just so good.  I've been really inspired and into simple geo shapes / prints lately so this is right up my alley.  Hope you enjoy her work as much as I do and make sure to check out Caroline's drawings and paintings on her site too!

Official

Well guys, Solange has done it again.  Official.  She has the best dance moves, style and hair.  I like to think this is what I look like when I have solo dance parties in my apartment :)

Happy Saturday!

Birks are back

Yes, you read that right, birks are back.  These comfy go-tos of hippies everywhere are now cool with the fashion crowd.  They are popping up everywhere from streetstyle photos to editorials and on feet usually only seen in 6 inch heels (Vogue even wrote a post about them here).  We all know that Phoebe Philo may be partially responsible for this trend after debuting her fur-lined versions at Celine's S/S 13 show (seen here).

It's not a huge surprise to see the sandal making a comeback as we are seeing so much 90's inspiration in fashion right now.  I definitely remember wearing a suede forest green pair with some marled workmen socks back in my junior high / high school years & my feet were never happier :)  Looks like I might have to dig out that pair I have hiding in my closet!

Had to throw in this image of a young Kate Moss rocking some birks :)

Tumblr-in'

Hey Guys!  I started a tumblr!  Since sometimes there aren't enough hours in the day and it can be hard to find the time to write a good blog post, and since I'm always pinning, why not combine the two with a well curated tumblr site?  Right?!  Click here and take a look!

GOALS

I've been thinking a lot about goals lately; all the things I have been wanting to do but can't seem to get started or finished.
You see, I've been in a bit of a rut and have been for awhile now.  I keep trying to find my way out but I kind of feel like I'm in quicksand, the more I try to change things, the more stuck I get.  I just find myself getting overwhelmed by all the things I want to do, things I haven't done.  I mean it's not like I never check anything off my list, it's just that I get frustrated because I want to do it all.  I want quick results!  Show me the money!  I really need to learn not to stress myself with "I want/need/should be doing this, this, this, this, this & this!"  I need to find that balance of doing the things I love in my spare time and having those days when I do nothing (and not feel guilty about it).
This is where goal setting comes in.  I think it's a positive thing to set some goals.  Write them out, set some dates of when I would like to achieve them by and scratch them off the list one by one. (I love making lists!)  I know that I won't necessarily accomplish everything on "the list" and that's ok.  Some things will be easier than others and part of what I'm trying to teach myself is that it's better to fail than not to try at all.
I've had a lot of changes in my life lately and it feels like things are definitely still shifting, it feels like good time to make some of the changes I've actually been wanting to make.

Resort 2014

I haven't had a chance to go through all the resort collections just yet but Chloe & Stella McCartney were definite favs.  Can we talk about that mustard coat?  Oh man!  (insert smiley emoji with heart eyes).  I'm also loving this 3.1 Phillip Lim look below because I'm pretty sure I could recreate something similar with pieces I already have in my closet;  and who doesn't love a little style inspiration ;)
